Illinois Concealed Carry

This class covers the legal requirements for a Conceal Carry class in Illinois, with additional emphasis on deciding whether to carry or own a gun, conflict avoidance, and non-lethal self-defense. On Day 2 we start at the range for qualification, then returning to the classroom to finish instruction.

What we’ll cover over the two days includes, but is not limited to:

  • Introduction to Firearms

  • FOID cards and laws

  • Introduction to Illinois and Federal Firearms Laws

  • Officer Interaction

  • Justifiable Use of Force

  • Concealed carry holsters and other equipment

Basic Pistol Safety (Classroom Only)

During this class we introduce students to firearms stating from zero knowledge, focusing on safety and basic pistol handling. This includes covering safe gun handling, the parts of a pistol, its operation, and fundamentals of aiming and shooting. Students practice with inert replica pistols and receive guidance and feedback during practical exercises.

This is an excellent option for group classes, and we’d be happy to schedule a session for your organization! We can run a version of this entirely in the classroom, and do not need live firearms or access to a range.

Introduction to Firearms (incl. live fire)

This class is a basic introduction to firearms that assumes no prior knowledge. It is good for those who are considering firearm ownership or those who want to understand how to navigate around firearms safely. We will have approximately two hours of classroom instruction, then we'll be driving to a shooting range for live fire practice.

Topics we will cover include:

  • Firearms and parts

  • Safely loading and unloading

  • Safely operating and shooting

  • Basics of marksmanship

  • Live fire practice
